Membership Information
The Northeast Harbor Fleet, called "The Fleet," was organized in 1923. There are now over 400 members. New members are welcome. Several membership categories catering to individual and family needs are offered. In addition, two moderately-priced introductory membership categories (without initiation fees) are offered: a 1st Year Student Membership for participants in the Northeast Harbor Sailing School and a 1st Year One-Design Memberships for owners of Luders 16's and Mercury's interested in Fleet managed racing.
Members and their guests may take advantage of the Fleet’s facilities, including the Fleet House and docks, the launch service out of Gilpatrick Cove, and mooring rentals in Gilpatrick Cove and nearby Northeast Harbor. The Northeast Harbor Sailing School maintains individual fleets of 420s and Optimists moored in Gilpatrick Cove and makes a fleet of Mercury's available to members at no cost. Fleet member’s children and guests may also benefit from extensive weekly Sailing School classes running throughout July and August.
Throughout the summer months the Northeast Harbor Fleet hosts a number of races and events along the scenic Mount Desert Island coast. The Fleet boasts the largest International One-Design fleet in the world with 26 boats. In addition the Fleet hosts weekly spinnaker and non-spinnaker races for close a similar number of PHRF-rated Cruising Class boats.
We welcome your visit to our Fleet House, on 48 South Shore Road in Northeast Harbor, where membership information and forms may be obtained during our operating hours in July and August.
