Sailors enjoyed an unstable seabreeze which turned into a blustery thermal breeze on the Great Harbor of MDI today. Things got started near the mouth of SW Harbor and as the boats turned Mark E, the thermal breeze filled off Seawall and Manset. The adventure to the far side of Islesford was changed to a pair of laps on the east west axis of the Great Harbor. Great racing ensued with tough decisions to hold with a chilly left hand breeze from the Cranberries or dig deeper into the warmer Manset thermal. One of the tightest finishes on corrected time in recent memory resulted in the top 4 boats finishing within 1min 40 seconds of each other after 15.9 miles of sailing.
Congratulations to the team on Gaylark who eeked out Eventyr for the overall bullet today with their non-spinnaker cruising mode. Eventyr (winning the spin class today) squeezed in ahead of the always tough to beat Sidewinder followed by Far Out. Weekend honors for combined score of Saturday and Sunday go to the well heeled crew of Far Out who showed that they can race competitively in tight quarters.  Best of all, the sailors were welcomed by Mike and Lyn Cook for a sumptuous post-race barbecue and party at their home overlooking Norwood Cove. The Cook Family went out of their way to make every one feel welcome and it was a good time had by all.
Special thanks to Bardy Roberts and Tucker Charles who did a great job in the mark boat for not only the cruising class but the four Luders' Class races today.
