Boats: RS Ventures
The Learn-to-Sail program is designed for younger children that are completely new to sailing. This class is focused on learning the basics in a fun, safe environment. Parts of the boat, basic knots, rigging and de-rigging, points of sail, boat handling, and basic seamanship are all covered as a part of class. This class is held on our larger, stable fleet of RS Ventures with weighted keels that are impossible to capsize. Sailors are grouped together and accompanied by an instructor in each boat.

Ages 12-17
Boats: RS Teras
The Intermediate Tera class is for older sailors that have prior dinghy sailing experience and know the basics well. The goal of this class is to further develop boat handling and seamanship skills with an emphasis on having fun on the water. This class will take part in weekly distance sailing trips to explore the surrounding waters, as well as activities and games on the water. This is not a racing-focused class, but sailors will be introduced to racing, and will have the option to participate in weekly race days. Sailors will also learn right-of-way rules and cruising skills such as anchoring, docking, navigation, and more.

The Intermediate Venture class is for older students who have some prior sailing experience on a Venture and know the basics well. The goal of this class is to further develop boat handling skills with an emphasis on having fun on the water. Teamwork and communication between crew is emphasized, and spinnakers are introduced. This is not a racing-focused class, but sailors will be introduced to racing, and will have the option to participate in weekly race days. Sailors will be introduced to right-of-way rules and cruising skills such as anchoring, docking, navigation, and more. This class is held on our larger, stable fleet of RS Ventures with weighted keels that are near impossible to capsize.

Boats: RS Teras, RS Ventures, IOD Magic Bus
The Race Team is our most advanced class offering designed for sailors that are interested in learning to compete on the water. The Race Team emphasizes having fun in a competitive atmosphere while building skills through drills and games. This group will be interacting with other area clubs for interclub racing events. Prior sailing experience and instructor approval is required to join the race team.
